NEW ADDITIONS: WINTER BABIES

I had a sweet baby girl 4 days before Christmas last year, so I know how hard it can be to plan a birth announcement to show off the new addition to the family that does not look toooo “Christmas-y” but also celebrates the season.

The first announcement features a light dusting of snowflakes on the front with the baby’s name and photo being the main focus. It has a coordinating back design and matching address labels. Also, it comes in other sizes and formats to accommodate any photo. It is available exclusively at Tiny Prints.

The next announcement features a snuggly, crocheted pattern - perfect for those winter bundles of joy. LITTLE BOY LAND : UPDATING OUR HOUSE

We have lived in our “new” house for a year now…..not so new anymore (ha!). Plus, it was built in the 60’s, so technically it was not new even when we bought it. Buying an old house came with lots of work - and since I was 7 months pregnant when we moved here and now there are 3 kiddos to juggle, it is going very slowly. Every single room is only partially finished. There are half-painted walls, we have wallpaper that we have bought but not hung in our hall bath, we want to paint the kitchen cabinets, we need a new front door - and the list goes on and on. But I can finally say at least one room is completely finished, our oldest son’s room! His favorite color is orange, so he specifically requested it. I found this great duvet from Dwell Studio and went from there. I am really happy with final result, and I think it will be able to grow with him for years.

FROM THE STUDIO

I recently designed these cute little cards for a lovely client. She wanted a set for her and her husband and another set for her little boy. For the adult cards, I went bold and modern with colorful stripes and a focus on their name. The child cards kept with the modern theme with a fun giraffe. I used an ombre watercolor I painted for the background and paired it with a crisp white. Calling cards are perfect for gift enclosures or even handing out to friends.

COLOR LOVER : SUCCULENTS

I am so obsessed with succulents. We have them all over our backyard, from these smaller rosettes to larger agave cacti. The colors are so gorgeous - they are soothing and spa-like and make our yard feel like our own little oasis in Alabama. My favorite thing about succulents (other than their beautiful colors) is that they are the most low maintenance plants ever. Since they are found in the dessert, you never even have to water them. The water they receive when it rains is plenty to keep these plants thriving. (Photo by Stacey Day)

BOLDLY NOTED IKAT

I don’t normally have much time to share current projects, but I am going to make an effort to do so here on my blog. This is some custom stationery I designed for a client recently. I created this bold ikat pattern for the envelope liner and paired it with a minimal, sophisticated look for the notecard. They were printed by Moglea - and I never get tired of holding and feeling letterpress goodness in my hands.

EXCITING NEWS!

I am so very happy to announce that I have partnered with Tiny Prints and Wedding Paper Divas and will soon have lots of fresh, new designs available. The past couple of months have been so hectic diving in and designing away - I have already completed my holiday collection, which will be available for the 2012 Christmas season. I will also have a collection of bridal shower invitations that will be available soon through Wedding Paper Divas.

My first design for Tiny Prints, Precious Peek, just launched! It is a photo stationery card, featuring artsy brushstrokes for a pop of color on the modern design. It is perfect for showcasing a photo of your child or for a graduate’s thank you notes.

I could not be happier about my new partnership and am looking forward to seeing everything I have been designing lately being released on each of these sites.

ANTHROPOLOGIE GOES UNDER THE SEA FOR EARTH DAY

I am always in awe of pretty much everything Anthropologie does. From their advertising to their beautiful home items and clothes to their gorgeous windows - they are an ever-changing source of inspiration. In honor of Earth Day last week, Anthropologie went even beyond their normally-spectacular windows and created these underwater art displays. They partnered with the Wyland Foundation, and the pieces are made of recycled bits crafted by store associates and fans nationwide. Read the interview with the artist here.

Mohawk has been making premium printing paper since 1931. Last week Mohawk announced a major reinvention of their business to “thrive in today’s digital world”. They have launched a snazzy new website designed by Hydrant and developed by Avatar, as well as introduced a new identity designed by Pentagram partner Michael Bierut and associate partner Joe Marianek.

BACK TO THE BLOG

After a long, long neglect of my blog and website, I am finally posting something new. Having baby number three has been wonderful - and time-consuming, to say the least :). Little Lola arrived the end of December, and we have been eating up every adorable moment of her and her two big brothers.

Here is a peak at the birth announcement I designed for her. I had them printed by Meg Gleason of Moglea. She did THE MOST amazing job printing them and even sent me the pics of it on press. Thanks Meg!

BABY TIME!

All of my custom holiday design work is complete. All my holiday shopping - check. All the nesting and cleaning and getting ready for the new little baby girl - check. I am now anxiously awaiting the arrival of my third child. And with only 6 days to go (if not before then), I am officially taking a break for the holidays and some time off to spend with our baby girl. Thank you for your holiday orders. Merry Christmas to all!

THE BIG MOVE

We have been in our new house for a few days now. I’m still exhausted - being pregnant and moving our family of four has been hard work. But it has been completely worth it and is so exciting and fun to finally be in here. We discover something cool each day that we did not see when looking at the house. Today I found this great model and original house plans. I feel like our house has a great history, and I can’t wait to make lots of memories with our family in it.
